Child, Adolescent and Young Adult Interventions and Therapy
What to expect
It's often useful to have an initial telephone chat to find out what you are expecting from meeting with a psychologist, to find out about any previous experiences of help and to answer any questions you have.
If an initial consultation is arranged we will think through who might be best to attend. For younger children sometimes just meeting with parents initially is useful whereas for teenagers and young adults they might want to attend on their own.
The initial consultation will be an opportunity to find out more about the issues and a plan will be made about how best to proceed. It is often useful to agree a number of sessions and then to review. Sometimes just the initial consultation is enough or all that is required.
